ok, i know with the 3.10 update the 60 to the 3000 specs so to speak
the 3000 can read 1.44 floppies because it had a 1.44 drive installed
can a 1.44 drive be installed in the 60?
im lookin to buy a 60, but it looks like the floppy will need to be replaced, so i just had that question runnin around in my head all day
if so, does anyone have a specific model that would work?
does the 3.10 OS allow you to read 1.44 disks on the 60?

ive used the search and couldnt find an answer to it
sorry if this was already addressed

peace

Yes you can.

Check the 60 FAQ at the top of the forum for all your floppy info needs.

i just wanted to be certain since i saw you said before that hd disks will ruin a dd drive

they are HD drives, BUT you must configure them to work as DD drives via the jumpers...

so the 3.10 OS doesnt allow for 1.44 disks to be reads as 1.44, only 720
am i right by sayin this?

affirmative...

not sure if HD disks will damage a technically HD drive that is configured to be used as a DD drive though... HD disks seem to wear out the original floppy drives though, i think the original drive that they came with from akai are different from the ones you buy as replacements now, the originals are DD only i beleive...

I'd get the SCSI option and look for a card reader.
