Ok, the 3000 has an internal ZIP. I tried loading the files on a ZIP disk, made on the 2000XL. The files are all .SND. They're not in folders. Anyway, when I hit load sound, I get the following:

error FF80.
I thought maybe the 2000XL files couldn't be read, but I think it would have said a different error message. At least I know that about the 2000XL!

If the SCSI device is selected as a load device:
...and valid MPC3000 formatted media is present in the ZIP drive then removal or failed "mounting/loading" of the ZIP media would cause the following error to be displayed:
FF80 - There is no disk in the SCSI hard disk
drive. Please insert a disk.
If the SCSI device can't be "mounted/loaded" due to having an incompatible partition scheme then the MPC3000 will often fall back to the floppy disk controller and then respond with:
FF80 - There is no floppy disk in the drive.
Please insert a disk.
Particularly if the MPC3000 was not able to "MAKE ACTIVE" the SCSI device in first place.
Now ... with this in mind.
The MPC3000 doesn't "mount/load" hard disk media formatted on MPC2000/MPC2000XL machines.
The MPC3000 doesn't "mount/load" hard disk media formatted as FAT16/32 on a MAC or PC either.
Such disks have a different partition structure that is not compatible with the MPC3000.
Hence the "no disk in drive message".
MPC3000's will "mount/load" hard disk media that is formatted by the MPC3000 or the MIDICASE MPCEDITOR software.
Another point ... the MPC3000 does not read the *.SND, *.APS, *.PGM files etc that the MPC2000/MPC2000XL can create.
Conversion of the files will need to be carried out on a PC with the MIDICASE MPCEDITOR and/or AWAVE STUDIO.
Use the MPCEDITOR on a PC to create a "stable cross platform transfer disk".
Use the MPCEDITOR or AWAVE STUDIO to port your 2000/2000XL *.PGM's and *.SND files to MPC3000 format.
Load the ported files into your MPC3000 using the "stable cross platform transfer disk".
