Go to Telesis. I bought a white backlight from them a while back and it looks tight:

Let us know how it turns out.

got in contact with VST, apparantly only the regular ones they have, $59, is this the cheapest i'll find? or should i look for other places? i really wanted a red one, that'd look real sweet i think:-)

I just bought the foil and put it in myself. There was no need for me to send them the whole display. It's not hard to do, you just need to be VERY careful when disassembling the display AND when doing the actual soldering. The MPC3000 has more wires to remove than the 60 does, but again, if you take your time, it shouldn't be a problem.

Try www.ramona.com and click on the upgrades section it'll take you soundlogic and they sell the backlights for $35.00. It's the cheapest I found and they have different colors, too.

I got in contact with the akai parts department, they also have backlit displays. $89. I contacted VST, they said the ones they use aren't really MPC backlits, so hmmm. I wonder if it's worth spending the $89 for the whole thing? or maybe this other spot for $35...hmmm....IT looks like this is gunna be some work for replacing the backlit. gotta do it tho. It's just realy frustrating that this display is gone>_< damnit lol...at least when this gets done i can replace the floppy drive with the memory card drive. I really just hate opening up gear. because often things can go more wrong if u open em up.

I don't know what's up with the link, it isn't working for me either...I have the number though if you're still interested...760-787-9632, I just got a white screen from them and it looks pretty dope.
