Loading bad samples makes Angus angry!

Greetings MPC crew, Angus here again. So check this out, Im not too sure where Im going wrong but.....

-First I open up .wav drum samples in Nuendo. Some from "Battery" kits, others recorded and cut.

-pre-produce 'em using some compressors, light reverbs, eq's, etc....

-export them as mono .wav's (broadcast) to save on disk space.

-open the samples up in RECYCLE 2.0

-Export the samples out of RECYCLE as "AKAI .akp Program File(*.akp)"

-Open up all the new exported files in MPCEditor V3.

(Now I tried to Import .akp files in the MPCEditor, but the program won't let me. So instead I open the newly created "winamp sound files" (I know this sounds stupid....winamp files as opposed to like .wav files, but thats what the 'puter says they are...so thats what Im using)

-Now the MPCEditor will let me drag and drop these sounds onto the corresponding pads I want to use, and I can preview every sound on the MPCEditor itself.

-I export all the new samples and a .PGM named "test".

- The problem arises when I try to load the .PGM file on the MPC. It'll load like half of the samples, but the I get the message....

"Sorry, this file (or possibly the entire disk) contains damaged data. For safety, transfer any good files to another disk, and stop using this disk"

-Now I'm not too sure. Did Winblows seriously ruin my disk, cause I don't think so. I can still go through 80% of the samples and load them one-by-one. However theres still about 4-6 samples that won't load.

- I figure I can just replace those f***ed up samples with new samples that do work, but a couple of them are some sweet BEEeeeeeuuooooo..... hits like the neptunes have used before, and I'd like to weave them into the magic.

I got that problem sometimes on disks only used in the 60.

Stop using floppies. I can't stop praising the card reader I'm using on my 60. Everyone should get one.

I used to get that error with floppies too.

First of all, you shouldn't save it as a broadcast wave, just raw pcm wav. then take it to the editor and save the PGM and samples.

Make sure you have the latest editor too.

I seem to remember that the fault was in reading the program, I remember being able to load all thje sounds individually and then saving the program on the 60.

It may be a sign of floppy drive filth, you may want to get a cleaning disk. or it could be damage if you are using HD floppies.

thanks for the response! Actually I should of clarified, Im using ZIP not floppy. Like I said, Im not too sure what's going on, I tried exporting as the regular .wav, but still the same error, just for some of the samples.

I know this sounds dumb, but do you think adding a reverb to the samples in Nuendo during pre-production would cause this error? Or any idea if Battery samples are copy protected against MPC formatting?

I am using floppies and I had this same problem... but not all the time. I could load the snds and pgms, make a few sequences and save but when I tried 2 load the beat up again I would get the aforementioned error. I don't think it's the same problem but I bet they're related. Never did figure it out b/c the problem wasn't consistent.

Just another point 4 the sample-in2-the-machine philosophy. I'm beginning 2 think that it just makes more sense 2 do it that way exclusively (at least with the 60). The 60 wasn't intended 2 be used with a computer and by doing so u open up a world of other issues that were never thought of b/c they weren't designed with that purpose in mind. I think bacc 2 when I had the old OS and I just made music. In short, error messages don't bang and that's the point.
