i posted this a while back. i don't think it's a midi problem. i think it's either the os or the zip disc. what happens is the machine starts acting all crazy. you start to hear drums playing in the background by themselves. the sequencer does not pick up on anything we program. everything is off. the main this is the drums that play all by themselves for no reason. i thought it was probably the other gear through midi but i turn everything off and it still does that. next step id to try and rewire everything. please help if anybody has ever had that happen to.

Which OS version in ROM ?

Which OS version booted from floppy ?

What type of ZIP drive ? 100 or 250 ?

If 250 ... what type of cart installed ? 100 or 250 ?

SCSI ZIP ? or ZIP PLUS ?

Disconnect anything plugged into the MIDI A & B inputs.

Re-init ALL parameters in the MPC3000 "other" menu.

What now ?

Rohan.

OS VERSION 3.11
BOOT FROM THE MPC ROM
SCSI
ZIP 100

i treid rebooting it on the same zip and it did the same thing. used a different zip and it worked great. i had a problem with a session a week ago where the zip was starting to act crazy and i had to get a new zip to try and program. i tried rebooting and it was the same thing. then the next day i get the exact same zip an no problem? i have not had any more problems but i am concerned that my tracks will get all screwed up. i make sure and drop everything on dp4 just in case and that way if somebody want to use the track i can have it ready. but the thing i do most now is start from scratch on many tracks with clients and i would hate to lose time and money with these problems. it never did it before so thats why i am asking for help in this situation.

thank you,

carlos
