Is my S900 pooched?

I have a blank ds-dd disk, i stick it in the machine. I press the disk button, the disk light goes on then the lcd screen fills up with weird symbols and says >>>@programs

I can get to any of the options under the disk section, so i can't format or save.

Is my disk drive on my akai s900 screwed?

try checking the drives floppy drive JUMPER SETTINGS... if you cant fix it that way, try a new floppy drive in it... dont know which floppy drive it needs for replacement off the head, should be fairly easy info to find...
