using the 60 with an eternal synth

I just got a new synth and i would like to sync it with the 60 I have/ a few of the keys on this pc keyoard aren't working~ so i have to use other characters~ please 6ear with schedge ii/ i usually wouldn't refer to schedge ii in the 3rd person 6ut the letter right after L on this keyoard isn't working
Anyhow~I can trigger the synth fro the 60/however if i want to actually play the synth and have the 60 record it~ do I have to send idi to the 60? right now I have the 60's idi out #3 going to the idi in on the synth/ I can play the synth 6y hitting the pads on the 60 6ut if I try playing the actual keys on the synth for a sequence it won't record/ it will only record the synth if I hit the pads on the 60/ So the question is if I want to play the acutal synth and have the 60 record it what do i have to do? Do I have to send idi 6ack into the 60 6y connecting the synth's idi out to the 60's idi in? if you can understand this all help would 6e GREATLY appreciated!thank you-schedge ii

connect midi in & out from and to the synth and MPC.

Select synth 1C if you are using midi out 3.

over where it says drum, change it to midi (on main screen)

Make sure midi through is set to on. Turn local mode off on your synth,

make sure you dedicate an empty track to your synth.
