taking out the scsi of a 60 is it a pain in the ass?

hey anyone know bout this? i just bought an mpc60 with scsi. my current one does not have scsi. it's in a bit better condition than the one i just bought too cosmetically. But i want scsi on it . do you think it'd be a pain to uninstall and reinstall the scsi? or should I just leave it in there?

btw! best mpc auctionS! the one where the owner doesn't advertise it's scsi! but it has it and he tells ya via messages llol:-) a ton of good deals if you ask teh seller instead of assumin.

won a forat9000 really really relaly cheap because the owner didn't know it had tons of mods on it,(you could tell this via the pics that it had tons of mods)

when i got my 60II it was maxed with scsi, and the dude didnt know sh!t about it, he was still usin floppys and charged way below what it was worth... thats the kinda deal u gotta find

anyhow, taking out the scsi isnt hard on the 60, at least on the mark2, sall i know from opening mine up to add a new backlight.. everything is spaced out, and easily accessible

yea serious, another good thing is to check craigslist, i'm pickin up another mpc60 for $450 this weekend... hahaha...i'm hoping it's in nice cosmetic condition, it's stock, so i'll fully upgrade that, n sell the others as non upgraded...

Picked up a pristine 60II a couple of years ago on ebay for $500. OS 2.12 and no SCSI. The only problem with it was the backlight needed to be replaced. A few weeks later I found a 60 in Guitar Center at the used equipment rack and bought it for $300. It had some problems with some pads not working and of course the usual backlight problem. But it had OS 3.1e, 750k memory upgrade and SCSI. So I took everything out of the 60 (eproms and SCSI interface) and fully expanded my 60II. I installed the OS 2.12 eproms into the 60, replaced the backlight and cleaned the circuit board to get all of the pads working. Took it back to Guitar Center and put it at the used equipment rack with a $600 tag and the damn thing sold a week later.
It's really not very difficult to do these things yourself on a 60. Replacing the backlight is a little tricky but not difficult. The OS upgrade, memory upgrade and SCSI are easy to install.

man, where do you guys find all this shit.
Im in the uk and currently rockin a 1k, but man what i would give to find a 60 at a good price.

A few years ago you could pick up a decent 60, 60II for $300-$600. Today I see them goin' for $600-$900 and not as many available. Considering what you can do with them and the fact that they are becoming harder to find, I'd say if you run across a decent one between $600-$900, buy it!!

yea they've definately seen a bit of a price jump. maybec uz people realize what's relay good with em.

also u can find mpc60 unupgraded for like 400-600, but the upgrades cost so much it's so much better to buy an upgraded one.


it's like buying an akai s6000 now u can get em cheap, but without the upgrades it's sitll expensive to upgrade n doesn't make it worth it...

No doubt 'bout it. 60's are becoming scarce as hell. I have 2 right now and I'm probably gonna' buy another one soon just to have it. In a couple of years these things will sell for 2-3 times today's price.
Life withouit a 60? Probably sukz!!
