2 WAY SCSI 4 MY 3000

Instead of the boring task of going through the MPC PRG Maker on the mac what I want to do is this.

Connect a Scsi card to the G4 Dual

Take a Scsi cable from the back and connect it direct into the Left side of my 250 Iomega Zip then the Right side goes off to the 3000.

Now here this!!!!

If i put a zip in the drive (formatted ON THE mpc which the Mac normally reads will the Mac and MPC see it.

The reason for this is simple......I can drag samples straight from the Mac In MPC MAKER on the desktop straight onto the Iomega Icon which then is also hooked up to the MPC3000

Makes life easier. but before I go and buy a scsi reader has anyone tried this.

You can run into problems with this route as both devices connected either side of the ZIP will try and own communication with the drive without correct arbitration of who gets which go at what time. Data corruption can result.

Try it and see how well it performs.

In my opinion ... just get two drives ... one for the computer, one for the MPC.

Swap the disk between the two drives as needed.

card readers are much faster.

I would STRONGLY recommend against doin that... the MPC is *NOT* a SCSI device. The SCSI adapter thats in it is to be used as a HOST adapter, i.e. to hang external hard drives, zip drives and card readers from. Don't mistake it's use for something like the USB port found on the early MPC 1000's. External zip drives are cheap enough now, where you can buy two of them for cheap. Just my 2centz
