Help with drums kits on the MPC 60

Hey what's up good peoples, I am new to posting on the board, but not new to the website. I have learned alot of good information on this board due to all the people on the board.

Anyway I have recently purchased an MPC 60, with the 3.01 upgrade( not the upgrade that makes it a 3000, but the 1996 version) and I am trying to chop my drum sounds from a drum loop into individual sounds. How in the hell do you do this.

I still have my 2000xl and I know how to use that, but I can not figure out once you zone the drum sounds on the 60 and send it to temp, how to assign the sound to a pad and save it as a new sample.

How in the hell do you chop drums in the 60. Please Help S.O.S

I had a similar question.. I happen to be using a mpc3000. I can chop samples, but it seems like there should be an easier method then copying the full break four or five times and then chopping it down individually.

sample a .100.00 sec sound, copy it a bunch of times, then copy zone to temp from your long sample, then insert to one of the .100.00 samples before or after the .100.00, then delete the sampled silence.

Can I do the same thing if I trim the sample to 1.0 and the rename the
sample then save it to disk.

How do you use the temp function. I know how to use it in the 2000xl. But in the 60 when you send it to temp it doesnt seem like you can utilize it as its own sample.

you have to paste it to another sample, hence the .199 sample.

I've tried shorter samples, it doessn't work as well for me. try it.
