As for Sampling on the 60

I had a question about the GAIN switch on the back of the 60. The options are HI, MED, and Low. Is there anyway perhaps, any of these could be blown? I know that this may not make any sense but please hear me out. Sampling on this machine is always a pain in the ass for me but, usually I get through it ok. The thing is that I always have the switch turned to HIGH, and no matter how much I play with the 60's record level on the sampling screen, and/or the volume of whatever it is that I'm sampling, it comes out horribly distorted. If I turn it too high, it comes out distorted, if I turn it too low, it comes out distorted, and that's why, I thought maybe the HI and Med options on my 60 were blown or something. Now, I know it's 12-bit, so it's not gonna sound crystal clear, but at the same time, it just sounds horrible. Now, when I turn the switch to LOW, I get a really great sound out of it but, then it's so damn quiet. Plus, I have to turn the RECORD LEVEL up so much on the sampling screen, and that adds noise too,doesn't it? So, I guess in the mean time, I'll just keep sampling with the switch on the back turned to LOW and tweak it on my mixer and 'ish. Unless anyone can point me in the right direction as to sampling on these cranky but beautiful machines.

it could be blown, but honestly the distortion could be the levels going into the mpc. switch it to high and lower the input source volume.

right now I have mine on mid and that is a bit strong for line level stuff. (I have to keep record gain at less than 50, usually 30 or so.)

So high may be just for very weak singals.

Can anyone else comment on this?

das the thing though, as far as the scource volume, no matter how high or low I have it, it's distorted. Obviousley, when I trun it down, it's weaker, however, extremley distorted.
