Help black lines on either side of the screen

Today when i turned on my 60 I noticed these odd black lines on either side of the screen. Is this from a loose ribbon cable



Who do you think could fix it cheaper forat or vst?

i would call vst and ask them. i was just there on friday, they are really cool and very helpful.

Can you see the lines when the machine is off?

no i can't see the lines while its off. also now thats its been on for a couple of hours the long line on the left is more faded now, but the shorter line on the left behind the long line part is still there. When i tap the front of the screen on the left side where the short and long line are the long line will go black again and when i tape the screen on the left side of the panel it goes back to being a faded black colour.

You could take out the backlight and see if the lines still show up.

yeah ure right, but i'd like to know whats wrong before i open up the 60. how difficult is taking out the backlight do i need to unsodder ne thing?

I can't tell from the pics, is the line actual pixels from the LCD?

no the black lines are not actual pixels when i look closely i can see that the black lines are behind the pixels.

It's probably the LCD but it wouldn't hurt to pull out the backlight and verify it's not shorting the contact strips causing them to "burn" and cause those black lines. I don't know your money situation but if it's the backlight it will be about $30 to replace but if it's the LCD and you send it in for repair I imagine they'll charge you at least $200 to replace it. It's worth a look for yourself. It's not hard to get to. It's just a couple screws on the case, a couple springs, 4 screws on the LCD display and a couple solder points. Desolder the backlight and pull it out with a pair of pliers, don't undo the metal tips that hold the glass and PCB together. Good luck.
