MPC-3000 and zip drive problems..

So, I've had this zip drive hooked up to my MPC-3000 for about a week now. It seems like everytime I save a program, turn off the mpc, boot back up, and try and load the program, at least two or three samples are corrupt. I get this:

Attention!
Sorry, this file (or possibly the entire disk) contains damaged data. For safety, transfer any other good files on this disk to another disk and stop using this disk.

I've tried 5 different fresh zip disks, formated, partitioned, and then saved program. Every single time I try to come back and reload a program I have this problem. It's REALLY annoying.

Does anybody have any idea what the problem could be??

i'm getting that same problem too! it doesn't happen to every program i make (maybe 1 out of every 4 or 5) and the corrupted samples are usually single drum hits i've taken off of sample cds (it's happened like once to a sample i've recorded off of vinyl)

i try to re-load the program, keep an eye on the screen for the sample that the machine has problems loading and wait for the "attention" screen to pop up.
then i go back and erase the corrupted sample from the memory....if it's the only corrupted sample, the rest of the program should load fine (otherwise, keep erasing the corrupted samples)

i hope someone has a better suggestion than i do (i'd rather avoid the problem altogether)

I'm by no means and expert and may be way off. I'm sure you'll get some "real" help shortly from some very informed folk, but have you tried changing the name of the file? That 8 letter thang tortures me. usually when I have problems, it edns up being tht damn name thang. Could that be part of the problem?

Yeah, i always keep my file names 8 characters or less to try and prevent any problems, but it still happens fairly regularly.. Maybe it's the actual zip drive.

Anyone else have any ideas??

Could be the drive or even the cable. If you've got another cable try that out. Also change the SCSI address around too. If you have an external hard drive try that to compare. SCSI is hell! But, it wuz all we had. Thank Gawd for USB and firewire....at least for now. They'll piss us off too and soon.
