Grid edit or time correction ! ! !

What's the best way on a mpc3000 to shift notes (IE)

2ND KIK

3RD SNARE

5TH HAT

On a grid editor like the 2500 this takes seconds.....but the 3000 you either go to where the note is, then dail in the whole measure number which doesn't even move with the data wheel like a mpc2000xl .

Any fast way

step edit, or shift notes

or you can just nudge them in the TC page.

I know you can move them in the TC page but say here


My first kik is on the beat !!!!

The 2nd is late and the 3rd is 3 ticks early.


Now i wanna shift some of the hats !!!!!

Finding where the hats r first with the dail in locater points in TC.

That takes forever!!!!

Or If i don 't like where i have moved the notes to findding them is a nightmare.

I usually use step edit to find notes in odd places. Turn quantize off so each step is 1 tick. in the step edit option, set increment to 'next event', so you can scroll thru each note. find the note you want to move, cut. then go back to option, set increment to 'next step'. goto where you want to move the note, then paste. this works well enough, if you record each sound on its own track. when i lose track of which is where, i just quantize and snap everything back to grid and rearrange again. its a pain in the ass, but sometimes its quicker than trying to find whats where.

Then use the 2500.
You use the tool that's best suited for how you want to work.
If stepping the way a 3K does is slow for you then just keep using the 2500 and let the 3K keep collecting dust on the floor like you said here.
