Ok ... as clear as possible.
It sounds like the PAD SENSOR BLOCK ASSEMBLY has failed.
Verify this by confirming failure of PAD # 7 in all banks.
With your machine open and viewing the top panel circuit boards.
The DRUMPAD control board will be stamped with L4012B507A
The CONNECTION BLOCK named P702 LINKS TO PAD SENSOR board
stamped with L4003CS100.
THE PAD SENSOR on board L4003CS100 is a COMPLETE
BLOCK ASSEMBLY numbered BA-379695J1
You'll need to order a replacment PAD BLOCK ASSEMBLY.
Use the following description when talking with AKAI, VST or
FORAT.
1 x BA-379695J1, "PC PAD SENSOR"
If they go "huh"
Then you can say:
As described in the MPC3000 Service manual, "Parts
List", page 13, "18. Final Assembly Block", part REF
NO 37.
Fitting is a no brainer ... although having an assistant to help you with the process and ... using a bit of common sense along the way will help.
