Hey guys,im just getting into the 3000(coming from yrs of working with 2000xl's and 4000). to my surprise i didn't know you can only USE 1 program at a time on the 3000. so with that said.my question is: how can i SAVE my beats on here since im not working with FOLDERS. i may make 5-6 sequences per beat but do the ALL have to use that 1 program? im REAL confused with this thing.

Any sequences can be used with any program. Maybe just name your sequences in a way that will identify which program they're used with.

ahh..yeah but how? it seems if i have 3 sequences, that they all have to use say program 1 or whatever but only 1program can be used right. i mean can i go to sequence 4 and use program 2?

I use a 60, and I'm assuming the 3000 work the same when it comes to this.

You can only use one program at one time, but you can have more than one program loaded. If you needed, you could switch programs. Look up how to change a program during a sequence.

I don't do it much. I think I've only used the feature once, but I know how to do it.

Read the manual.

WORD!!! Me 2....you can load 32 sounds and to tell the truth most of the time I don't even fill up the "A" pad bank.

You could get 64 sounds in one program. More than enough for any beat maker.

Yeah my bad 64 SOUNDS!!!

Only thing I can think of that can limit you is using up your memory by sampling a record and making crazy chops and then expecting to load mad drum sounds too. I use the 3000 strictly for drums.

Yeah, all the above stated is true but a lot of people do not make there programs right before every beat....They are usually already together....You may want a kick from one program and then a snare from another program....I understand what he means!!!!

Yeah but I do this all the time.....I think you can load 64 programs all together (and it automatically loads the sounds assigned to the program). I usually start out loading a good 10 - 15 programs and sort thru the different drums I have assigned to each program. It saves the parameters too so you already have your audio output/sound level/tuning/filter features already saved within the program.

so you guys are telling me that if i have seq1,2,3 and im using program 10. then i want to start creating something totally new on seq4,5,6(whole new beat) you mean to tell me that i HAVE to use program 10.because if i switch programs its going to mess up what was on seq1,2,3,right? so what your saying is that you guys may have 20seq and theyALL are using the same program, drums and sample included?

No, man. Just change your programs according to the sequences.

I Recently had the same question, and Rohan helped me out tremendously to understand the workflow on the 3000. It is true- 1 program at a time per sequence. It is also true that you can load alot of different programs, but remeber even if you have the 32mb. expansion on your 3000, you can only have a maximum of 128 sounds in memory at once.

So basically, it's better to re-make your programs smaller and in a larger quantity, and go to the "assign sounds in a program", and mix and match them as you see fit, between programs, making a unique program for your song/sequence that your working on.

If you want to use a different program in a "different sequence", you'll have to keep changing the programs back and forth between sequences.

This is definitly a bummer if your used to using multiple programs, so you don't have to fish for drums. Coming off a DAW (Mach 5), you get used to having many programs, and using a program for like 1 sound, and jumping to another without worrying about sound limits or program changes.

However, the feel of the 3000 is truly unique..hence i'm willing to go through the extra trouble!

Like you said, either make small programs and add to it or have one really big program with the best sounds in your library. I go for the latter and its a much better way to get ideas down. You can always replace individual sounds later.

It does get frustrating when you have 64 kicks on one program & 64 snares on another.
