Weird noises

My MPC is making weird noises sometimes. It's not coming out out of the audio outs or anything, but the actual machine itself. I'd need to record it on a mic to give you an example of what it sounds like.

It's like a weird squeeling noise. Anybody know what it is or why it's doing it?

The LCD backlight driver/step up transformer is playing up.

ELMACACO ( where has he been of late ) posted a fix for this a while back.

you could try inverter...

All these things whine after a while and a SCSI card makes the sound a bit more intense.

If that's the solution I definately need to send my MPC somewhere or some shit. I definately can't mess around with it. I'll **** it up even worse.

Yeah, don't do anything your'e not comfortable with. It would take an experienced tech all of about 15 minutes to replace and I'm sure the part is cheap so it's nothing to stress about. I did the same thing El did in that post to one I had and just like his it still had a small whine but for the most part unnoticable.

In case you did want to try yourself and save a little dough... if your'e not familiar with where/what the inverter is but it's about the size of a credit card with a little round housing on the top. It has two sets of wires one is from the power supply and the other is to the backlight. It sits directly behind the the floppy drives and it's held down by only 2 screws. From there try what elmacaco did or just pop the new one in.
