After swithing from the 2000xl to the 3000

I really need some help.....this is my situation....after have used the 2000xl for almost 4 years i swithed to the 3000 and im so pleased. But heres the problem, i feel its too much to have 2 mpc (and i need the extra money) but i have over 3000 (!) unfinished beats for the 2000xl that i will loose if i sell it, i also use the 2000xl when i erase very loud pops from samplin vinyl.
What i wanna do is sell the 2000xl and buy a akai sampler that 1) has the ability to see the sample and erase unwanted portions 2) can read mpc2000xl sounds (the sequenses i can redo on the 3000, no problem)

Can this be done ( i really dont want to use a computer for this)

I would keep both of them. If you really want to ditch the 2kxl, look into the Akai S3200XL sampler. I believe it has the features that you want.

ok, thanks for your opinion, but i really need the extra cash, i live in sweden and i can get like 800-900 usd for a used 2000xl here and a used s3200xl is like 200, plus it feels like too much to have two mpc´s. i feel that im never gonna make another beat on the 2000xl since i love the 3000 so much. And if i get an akai s sampler i will have all the extra features on the mpc2000xl and more so.....
Im looking into the s3200xl but i havent been able to get any straight answers from anywere yet.

so it seems to me that you answered your own question + you will have $600 in your pocket to get some new gear or something. maybe get an S950 to add some 12 bit to your set up. what other straight answer do you need? good luck

What i meant with straight answers was that im not sure that the s3200xl can read the mpc2000xl files, thats what im trying to find out. Before i do anything i need to be 100% sure that i can read those files, If im sure that it can, i will buy one and sell the 2000xl no doubt. I have sent emails to akai but they havent responded

OK, is it that simple, that if the s3200xl uses wav (like the 2000xl), it can read the 2000xl files? I didnt know that.

I think only 2000XL, 1000, 2500, 4000 read WAV. If you want to use the computer get a MPCEditor for PC or MPCPGMMaker for Mac. That should help you convert into .SND files and .PGM. I'm not sure about the SEQ files. I don't think the 3000 is forward compatible unless Rohan is working on something.

Could he transfer SEQ files from 2000XL to 3000? Sysex?

BTW, I have both an 2000XL & 3000. I like many things on both. So, I use both, buts its hard to justify.

what you do is,if you have a DAW,just track the beats from your 2000xl over into your computer(2trk l-r)..that way they will be audio files and plus you can audition them to whoever wants to here them plus you didnt have to lose them.now dump that 2000xl,maaaann!!

yup. track them out and stop buying more gear.

WHICH 2kxl files? If you say 2kxl FILES, someone or even yourself will get confused as to WHICH files you mean you see what I'm saying.

2KXL WAV, APS, ALL, MID, SND, SET ETC...... What the 2kxl can read is in the manual.

What the 3k can read is in the manual, be specific as to WHAT files you are talking about.

ok, thanks for your advices, i guess i wasnt specific enough when i just typed files , im just really bad with all the tecnical stuff.....
I never thought about the mpc editor, thats perfect for me, but i got an advice about another program that you guys might like (if you dont already know it yet) its AWAVE Studio v9.5 and can be downloaded for 30 days free at www.fmjsoft.com
i havent tried it yet but it seems great!
