So... I've had my MPC60II for a couple of months now.
It has made a HUGE difference to my music. I'm not even talking about the sound (more later)...but just the whole workflow thing.
I've been using a pc...Live, Reason, Guru... all great programs, all good at what they do... but I just find the MPC 60 much more ...fun!
As a sampler it's so easy to chop, loop etc... (though I think it'd be more of a pain without the scsi drive)... I'm making at least 4 x the amount of music, and it's better! (obviously in my opinion...)
The sampler can be a little tempramental sometimes...i.e a kind of fuzzy, staticy noise behind a sample (particularly if the sample is playing quietly)...and I'm fairly sure that the rec input volume is not always the same (even if all the settings are the same).
One question (for anyone who has got past the love letter above)... and this is going to sound stupid, but: Balanced and unbalanced cables...?
er,...what differemce do they make? Which should I be using for input/output etc... and, er...how do you tell which is which? Is it just stereo and mono...
Still...I can't quite get over the fact that something nearly 20 years old, in a fast changing industry, is wsorking so well, and giving me such pleasure!
I track into my pc with Samplitude se (it was free), which I like... anyone else use this?
