hi all

i'm in the fortunate position of currently have both an MPC 60 Mk I (V 2.12 - runs flawlessly) and an MPC 60 MK II (V 3.02 - doesn't run so flawlessy). My mpc 60 seems to have way more memory - is this due to the upgraded software? I also find the Mpc 60 MK II is easier to use, as you can assign a sample to any key whereas with the MK I you're stuck with sampling onto that specific key - is it worth ripping the 3.02 chips out of the MK II and replacing them into the MK I with the 2.12? will this increase sample time? is it easy to do without daming the chips?

thanks y'all!

No ... more than likely because of a RAM upgrade board being present.

Fitting the 3.XX chips into your MK1 will allow you to take a sample of any length you desire within the machine's memory size limits.

Good luck.
