mpc 3000 OS question

Hi

Could someone shed some light on the feasibility of integrating a sequence select option from the pads into the 3k OS. What would be great is the ability to select the next sequence with the pads, similar to how you type in the number in the data entry then hit enter. If it is possible would it be possible to assign the function to a soft key or the simul seq key which could then assign the sequences numerically like the 16 step feature???? I have no idea if any of this is possible but it would be awesome for live use if it is possible. I would try myself but I can even code html so hopefully Rowan or someone can shed some light on this

New MPC 3000 features

The only new feature in recent years I found useful was the clearing of samples from memory. But I can't use that feature because I stopped using the floppy bootable OS. It had my MPC trippin' for a minute. These days, she behaves like a good girl should.

I don't need new features. The only thing I want is one small but irritating bug to be removed so I don't keep bouncing in a bloody help screen

What bug is that? I have read that there were some bugs in OS 3.11, but I have never encountered any.

Bloody... You go and start sampling on your 3000. You'll know soon enough what I mean. I should spank you for not knowing that bug!

Dude...what's wrong with you? I have been sampling in an MPC 3000 for years. I had two crashes during that time.

Haha, sorry dude. I might have had one too much so that even I didn't know myself what I was posting.
It wasn't even about sampling. Anyway...

Everytime I record a sequence and have pressed the overdub button for instance so that it only plays the sequence I cannot let it play another sequence directly after my recorded sequence. I get an annoying helpscreen with a lot of blah blah.

I'll try to explain when I'm sober.

Ahhh..yeah. That is not a 'bug'. That is how the machine is suppose to work. Its a limitation.

That's some limitation

I never took the time to read the helpscreen correctly. I just know that it says I need to disable "record ready" mode first.

* Record > Press rec button > Next seq > helpscreen
* Record > Press stop button > Press play > Next seq > helpscreen
* Record > Press stop button > Next seq > helpscreen

It seems that to disable the "record ready" mode you need to record something and press the stop button. Then choosing another sequence and then the sequence you were working on again. If not, the bloody helpscreen comes up again. If this is not a bug, can somebody please explain to me why this can't be solved. It looks to me as if it's a "software" limitation...
Anyhow I've learned to live with it but from time to time I'd like to throw that thing out of the window.

The internal sequence engine open's a sequence for "play back mode" or "record mode" ...

The processes behind each of these tasks is very different ... despite the apparent similarity of each at the user level.

A decision to halt the engine when changing selected sequences while in "record mode" was made a long time ago.

For the mean time.

Just remember that you can easily take the machine out of "record mode" when the sequencer is running without stopping your sequence.

Then selecting the next sequence will not present you with the "help/warning" screen.
