sup everybody,

is it ok to replace a 125V 3.15A fuse with a 250V 3.15A fuse?

i read up on it, and got confused somewhere near V=I/R....

No ...

If you are running your MPC60 on a step down transformer so as to lower our 240V AU mains toward the US 110V then replace the fuse with a 125V 3.15A type.

Reason being ...

If one of your drunk/stoned/tripped out mates or you accidently connects your machine into our AU 240V ( in Perth 240V-265V ) mains without first going via a stepdown transformer then the 125V 3.15A fuse will blow.

In this case ... the machine is saved and a fuse is easily replaced.

Put a 250V type fuse in and should the event above happen ....... the fuse will stay intact while the rest of the machine goes up in smoke.

Hardly the best option.

So with that in mind.

ALWAYS REPLACE FUSES WITH THEIR INTENDED VALUES.

Just my $0.02 worth having seen this happen numerous times.

If the step down is in the middle then everything should be OK.

Best to dig out some 125V fuses though.

Backlight might not be working for other reasons.

I can't belive how good the timing on this thread is! I should have an mpc60 mk I waiting for me at home tonight, and I'm going to need a stepdown transformer, as the unit is from the states. Is there anything in particular to look out for with a stepdown convertor? Should it be given it's own power point? And hiredesign, is the screen not working because of the stepdown convertor? Please say no!!!

it all turned on correct...
as for the backlight.. it used to come on very dim.
i think my invertor is busted up... it has loose solder joint which i fixed with some wires. i tested all the continuity on it and made sure it's not shorting.

if i could i would buy another invertor, but i don't think it's possible.
I'll take it to a mate that fixes arcade machines and he should be able to test it for me.

D-I-C-K SMITH sell the step down convertor as do ALTRONICS and JAYCAR.

Make certain the STEP-DOWN has it's own fuse and is rated to work with the power demand of an MPC60/60MK2.

Running on it's own power point is not such a big deal.

Only run one device from the STEP-DOWN.

Thanks so much Rohan, you're a legend! I just went to D-ck Smith, and the guys there have no clue. But there's only one step down convertor that will work for it, so I guess that's what ima do. Seriously though, they should employ some people who know what they're talking about there!

i blew the 3.15a 125v fuse in my 60 last night. finding them out here in miami has been a lil tough
i have been able to find the 250v 3.15a fuses though
are there any reasons to not get this fuse over here since we do not have to deal with the stepdowns?

You live in the USA and you can only get 250V fuses? wtf?
isn't the usa power grid all 110V?
