Mpc60 mk2 stereo sampling?

I bought the Mpc 60 mk2 a few days ago.

Since there is only one "rec in" jack I assume I could put in a stereo cable here. I use a Y-cable from my turntable and into my mpc.

But the thing is, it sound very strange when the pan from the turntable is set to 0, but when I pan to left or right I hear the channels crystal clear.

How can I hear/sample when the pan i 0 correctly?

Am I using the right cables?

Am I the only one who must pan on the dj mixer to get the sound right?

You have to pan it. It only samples Mono. Read the manual and figure out how to make stereo sounds.

if you are trying to stereo sample, you have to record each side separately into the 60. if you have the latest OS version, you will be able to take both of those samples and create a stereo sample from them.
ill tell you an easy way that i sample stereo
i have 2 outputs of my soundcard hooked into the rec in of the 60. I will record the sample i want into a program like cooledit, trim it, and then select the right and left sides separately and record them into the mpc. there is no need to use the editing function in the 60 to get the 2 clips sounding proper

I've got my mixer running into the mp, which lets me do mono summing. It works nicely and doesn't take up too much sample space.

How do you line up the left and right sides of the stereo image so that they play in time?

I'm assuming that you don't have OS 3.10 since you are asking this, but luckily I have a solution for you. The best way to get stereo samples without paying $195 to upgrade to 3.10 is getting a line-in to 1/4 inch stereo cable. The trick is to not plug in the line-in side completely. Only push in until you feel the first little click and leave it there. The cable will pick up both channels as if it were one channel. Ta-da! You now have stereo samples!

i thought the Y cable connector could give you phasing problems? maybe i'm wrong tho , i just think i remember reading that a while ago on some post similar to this.

I never tried it with a Y cable. Just a regular line-in to 1/4 inch stereo cable.

And I've never had any phasing issues with this trick. Maybe only on sounds that would be better in mono anyway, like kicks.

fyi u can't go from 2 channels to 1 with a Y cable. Impedance problems. Other way around is ok.
