Have you got the 950 setup right? As in are all your keygroups assigned a midi channel? And are you sending midi out from the mp? For example does the 950's midi light come on when you hit a pad?

Try turning OMNI off on the 950, I was having a similar problem. But I'd say that it has more to do with how your keygroups are setup in the 950 than the mp.

Good luck with it, when you get it rocking you'll understand why everyone raves about the combo!

Thanks for the reply, i did all that in the 950 but the mp only sends the midi signal when i have the chanel on 16pads. when i try to change it on the mp and switch it to 1a or 2a to match the 950 theres no sound. i turned off the omni in the 950 and use the offset to change the midi channels, but for some reason when i try to match the midi channels on the mp it doesn't work. I tried calling akai support and i searched through this forum and came up with nothing, i don't know if i skipped over something or what, but it's driving me crazy. if sombody can help i would really appreciate it. -THANKS

Make sure the note of the pad your hitting is the same as the not number in the 950(as in C3 corresponds to to 60 on 950), i had same problems the note configs on mpc's are layed out different to keyboards or samplers, try going thru your A,B,C,D pad banks on your mp and you might bump into the sound your looking for.

I had to create my own program that sets all pads on mp in a chromaticical order so my sounds were not all over da place let let me no if if this helps...

midi offset ch in the s950. set each keygroup to a diff midi channel. if this doesnt work RTFM!
