I know we all had some problems with using MpcPgmMaker in OSX with zip and floppy disks. Seishu is working on a new version of MpcPgmMaker that will solve these problems. I'm checking out a beta version right now. It looks good. So far, it solves the problem on zips. It should be ready soon. Maybe we'll even get some new features too, since he's apparently jumped that hurdle.

Peace.

Does anybody know how to format 100 MB Zips so that both the 3000 and OSX will recognize them? I know it can be done, a friend brought over a Zip that came from one of the samples suppliers, that came up on my G4 desktop as a PC Exchange MS DOS volume, and also was recognized by the 3000 when inserted in it's Zip drive.

A Zip formatted by the 3000 doesn't come up on the Mac desktop, and a Zip formatted DOS by the OSX disk utility doesn't come up on the 3000 :?

How are people who use pgmmaker in OSX getting the Programs and Samples over to the 3000?

Thanks in advance to anyone who has insight into this!

The latest version of the program solves the old problems with not being able to accurately access the MPC formatted Zip disks that have files written on them in OSX. I use it every day and the program works beautifully. Although I haven't formatted a Zip disk in OSX yet. I've been too busy using the one's that were formatted by the MPC and the DOS formatted ones that I bought.

Hope that helps.

Peace.

I'm running into some issues with using MpcPgmMaker, I'd be great if you can give me any insight on what I might be doing wrong.

I'm running a Dual 1.25 Ghz G4 with OS X version 10.2.6

The sample library is on a 120 GB firewire drive connected to the G4

My MPC 3000 has OS version 3.0.8, but I am booting version 3.1.1 from the floppy when I start up the MPC

I downloaded and registered the program from Seishu.

The first time I created a Pgm the software copied the snd files to the folder with the pgm.

Since then I have created several pgms, with the Rename, Folder, and Sampls buttons shaded, the Sample Format Selector on SND, the Program Format Selector on MPC3000.

At this point MpcPgmMaker is not putting the SND file copies of the samples I drag onto the pads into the folder with the .pgm file. The .pgm file is being saved in the location I designate when creating the program, but no .snd files of the samples. (?)

The software does play the aiff versions of the files from the directory, and when I click on the pads with samples assigned to them, so I know MpcPgmMaker is referencing the samples

Am I supposed to select save from the file menu affter creating a program? The save and save as options in the file menu are greyed out, is that normal?

Thanks in advance for any insight offer on this...

I'm ready to get the sample transfer shit out of the way and get back to making some phat ass jointz with my new MPC!!

Peace and thanks again,
Marlowe

Marlowe;
I haven't checked this thread in a while. Sorry. Hmmmmm? I've gotta go back to the program and look at how I do it. I usually set it a certain way and rarely change it, since I work the same way with it pretty much all of the time.

In the meantime, try some experiments with different settings and also try converting the samples separately from the program. Then load the PGM and the samples into your MPC.

Anyway, I'm looking at it now and I have the "FOLDER" and "SAMPLS" boxes darkened "SND" chosen and the format is "MPC3000." I click "Make PGM" and it creates a folder whereever I want.

If you try these things and it doesn't work. Contact me.

Peace.

Thanks for the reply, I think I got it ironed out, the key thing for me was drag the samples on the pads first, then hit make Pgm (duh) to convert/save them. This program is so Dope! Thanks again, Bro! 8)

In case anyone else was confused about this, Seishu says that the save command in the file menu doesn't have any function at this time, pgms are saved only using the make pgm button.
