How do you add sounds on the fly with only one program?

I just picked up a 3000 coming from a DAW background. Beautiful machine, but I'm wondering what the best way is to add sounds to a program on the fly? I guess what I'm trying to say is that I got used to layering kits (programs) on top of each other pretty easily in DAW land. The 3000 can only play one program at a time, so I'm wondering how to dial up another kit and layer it over the first. Is it just a question of keeping your samples organized so you can scroll through them and assign them to new pads?

you gotta figure out your workflow homie. I use this program called Audiofinder on my mac, and just browse thru my samples on my hard drive. When I find one, I just sample it to the MPC or the ASR-X.

Thanks for the tip about AudioFinder. How do you get it into the MPC quick? Zip?

You could do it that way too. I hook up the computer/soundcard outputs to the MPC/ASR inputs and sample the sounds out of the computer. Once I get my card reader working I'll be able to transfer samples that way too. But I like the ADCs on the MPC and the ASR. I like the way they make the sample sound so I prefer sampling them.
