Chicken Systems translator ...MPC60 probs

Does anyone use this software?

I use a laptop, so no internal floppy,...and I wanted a way to get sounds from my hard drive onto a usb zip drive...format it for Akai use, and then move PGMs and SNDs backwards and forwards from my MPC...

It works brilliantly for my S2000 sampler...but not at all for the MPC60.

I spent months sending emails backwards and forwards to the support folks,...and they wee very helpful..but ultimately couldn't work it out and said that they'd sort it in an update....

Of which no news!

Anyone else have any luck?

External floppy drives won't work (I've researched this)...so I tried MPCEditor... and for some reason it would never open properly. And now I can't trial it because it knows I've used it last year and my demo time has run out!

Every now and then at a friends place. But more often ........... not.

IE: We find other ways to do things.

Works well for some products and not for others in my experience.

What were the exact nature of problems you experienced with TRANSLATOR and the MPC60 ?

.......... contains incorrect information in various areas, and conflicts at some levels with the supported formats listed in their product blurb.

INMHO ?

MPCEDITOR and AWAVE STUDIO are the killer combo for PC users.

Many people on a PC would only need the MIDICASE MPCEDITOR for most MPC 60/3000 PGM creation work.

Awave Studio is a little more hard core with format source and conversion and is great for batching thousands of files into MPC3000 *.SND format ( also to and from many file formats ).

If you're having trouble getting the MPCEDITOR to work then contacting the author could prove to be of use.
