Your on an MPC site. Sounds like you want to hear "MPC". I don't own an SP1200, but do own an SP12 and a MPC 60II. In my opinion, the MPC 60 or 60II would be the best bang for the buck. You can find them cheaper and there are upgrades on the roger linn website. You can get the 3.1 O.S. upgrade and the SCSI option. They sell cheaper than the SP 1200. On my Sp12 I get a two line lcd screen andonly eight plastic buttons. On the 60, I get a huge lcd screen, nice pads, and an array of function buttons that make it easy operate the sequencer. I don't know if the SP12 sounds exactly like the SP1200, but if it does, I wouldn't pay $900 or more for an SP1200.

More bang for the buck... definately the MPC 60.

MPC hands down.

The SP doesn't have many advantages other than the dirty sound and nasty filters... but despite the fact that the MPC outweighs it in advantages many producers still prefer the SP... not on this site though!

Thats true... If he had asked which sounded better, my answer would have been different.

Actually it would be a safer bet to assume that many of the folks who already own older hardware such as the 60 and the SP1200, already know about the Mirage, and either we own it, owned it, or chose not to own it.
