MPC3000/60 Swing: What Is It Doing Exactly?

Is there any detailed information regarding the MPC3000/60 swing, what exactly the amount and level settings do, and at the different beat divisions?

I want to incorporate the same swing settings into a project for my electronics class, and it would be great if the swing settings on my device match those on the MPC3000/60.

Simon, Good question.
The swing delays certain notes by whatever percentage you specify.

For instance if you lay down a beat of notes at 1/16 intervals, the notes that fall on the 24 and 72 clock (tick) marks can be swung so they actually appear later than they "normally" do. The amount of swing is the percentage between the "Normal" position and the next 1/16 mark, that you have moved them.

Try laying down some notes, then open STEP EDIT and see for yourself how it moves the notes around

Presumably if it were possible to dial in a percentage lower than 50%, the notes would be early.
