I started using the MPC 60 in 1988 then later I owned a 60 II no difference other than the casing & headphone jack mine also had the 3.10 OS & memory upgrade. I loved that machine. Recently I traded my 60 and a few other midi items for a MPC 2000 XL 8-Outs, 32 meg mem. (www.gearorphanage.com) They buy and sell used MPC's and other gear. I have to say I should of upgraded a long time ago. I just added a 100 MB ZIP drive which is more than enough memory for me. I mainly use my MPC for drums and midi. I have a ZIP drive hooked up to my computer so I can edit my kicks and snares using sound forge or adobe audition. On the MPC I love the fact that you can see the wav file when you are editing the sample as well as the time stretching, sample chop, etc. This is a very well built machine I had my eye on the 2500 but when I came across my 2000 XL and was willing to do a trade and a small amount of cash $200, I jumped on it quick. I would of payed approx. $900 which is still a decent price. You can get a new 2000 XL for $1300. All I have to say is I'm happy with my WEST COAST beat maker. AKAI MPC 2000 XL...Peace
