the mpc 60 echo mix out

i am tryin to find out if the mix out is a stereo or mono plug.
ive been trying to run the mix out into an effects unit but returning back into the mpc only one side is affected by the effects.
im not sure if it is my y cable, but im wondering what is the use of the output if its mono with a stereo return?
am i using the echo mix out incorrectly?

I Think i need some 8 Track Mixer to use the separeted OUT from the MPC...
Maybe with a Tascam FW-1884 it will be nice.Plus i can EQ and Compressed into Cubase before Record.And the Gain of each Fader will be memorised into the Cubase Projet if i need to touch this again...
Does any body have tested a Firewire Interface/SoundCard like the Tascam Fw-1884 or FW-1082 pluged with the MPC 60?
