after 20 minutes my 3000 just switches itself off and wont turn on for like 10 minutes. its running quite hot is it a power supply fault? anyone know where to get one?

the sticker on the back of my unit say S V (europe and germany) im in the UK thou. is this the problem?

The UK has different voltage than the rest of Europe.
Europe = 220V
UK = 240
You should definitely use a voltage converter when using a MPC with an different voltage. Some advices (like the S950) have a switch on the rear which toggles the voltage from 220V to 240V.
I rock an US MPC in Europe, no problem with the converter.

yeah that would explain then. ive just opened up the 3k and had a quick look at the power supply/transformer, theres a cable going from the PS marked E V to the transformer. but then theres and empty plug/socket marked B S only (to transformer) which has no cable. do i swap these over ?

think i might have solved it.
voltage regulator on the power supply is fatigued. apparently these have built in thermo cut outs so that might explain the rebooting. i gets fooking hot too. cant even touvh it after it cuts out

havve u got exact values for the regulators and rectifiers on that board rohan?

Off the top of my head ... no.
Unless the names/part numbers are cooked off same then they should be clear enough to read. Bright light and a magnifier may help.
I'll in the mean time retrieve a bit more info.

changed the regulator and its still giving me grief. took it to another guy today. before i even asked him to look at it he noticed the main smoothing capacitor was balloning at the top and didnt look in good shape. hopefully this is the end of my worries. fookin hard to find a 10v 12000uF capacitor thou.

Shorted CAP straining the regulator.
These value CAP's are not too hard to find.
Hope your MPC3000 is back up and running soon.
