These storage mediums are supposed to be extremely reliable and are going away for cheap on eBay, both internal and external. Since there's no way to find a SCSI CF readers they look like a decent alternative. Anyone ever tried using one with a 3K? I'm more than willing to experiment with one if nobody ever bothered before.[/img]

I use an external MO drive with my 3kLE, runs perfect and has not failed me yet!

We have talked about MO drives before:

Here are a couple of posts where some MO drive chatter was spotted.

MO drives do work with the MPC3000.

The MO drive must present itself with a 512 bytes per sector block size.

The MO drive must support the usual SCSI commands for basic operations such as FORMAT UNIT ( HARDWARE LOW LEVEL FORMAT ), READ, WRITE and such.

Several users on this and other MPC lists use MO drives with good results.

Rohan.

Thanks for the very informative feedback gentlemen, appreciate that.

If I may ask, are these units particularly noisy when they operate? Is the disk spinning all the time or just when reading/writing?

Avastyle, could you provide more info on the make/model you are using? Internal or external?
