Does anybody have any 8bar 3K Groove Template's?
I've had my MPC2000 from when they first released them. Then
i got the 2000xl. It's great for sketches and ideas. But i use Logic too now because Groove Templates are so dope! And Logic is more sensitive (240 MIDI points per quarter beat) So it maid sense to me that if i wanted more accurate Groove Templates, Logic can do it. Along with ReCycle.
I still love my MPC, you can't beat it's compression and rock solid time.
But i would rather have a 3000, because Roger Lynn's feel is so dope!
So the nearest thing for me right now are Templates.
I found 2bar 3K Templates with all the swing settings (50% to 75%)
But every time i have mapped my own template from a 3K beat off a record, i notice the Roger Lynn feel is not just two bars. An 8bar loop seems to slip and slid it's timing the whole way!
We can map any beat with ReCycle to get the Groove as we know. But it's not as accurate as purpose making a Groove Template.
For example: The 3000. Simply recording it playing a sharp attack sample at full velocity on all quantized quarter notes give's us pretty much the exact Roger Lynn feel that’s written mathematically into the MPC3000.
