Just got this combo going through buying, selling, and trading. I know what both can do. Just wondering who else uses them together and how(tips). I've seen 2k+asr threads but not 3k. Also I'm using reason and protools. Thanks :D

Cosign. You can do a lot with an ASR and MPC3k combo. I suggest you read up on how the wave samples work on the ASR.

By dump do you mean sample again or put on disk and tranfer? I don't have the scsi for the asr yet.

How do you do the connections for midi for ASR-10 and MPC 3000. What are the settings on each one?

Thanks in advance

If u want to use the 3K as the brain then in the ASR set:

Midi In Mode=Multi
Transmit On=Base Channel

All u have to do on the 3K is set the Chn: field to the MIDI track number, and set Type: to DRUM.

I set it to transmit on Instrument Channel when sequencing the asr with my 2kxl.. Is this differnet in the 3000? Wondering because im thinking of getting one in the future.

You're right it can be set to Instrument also in the ASR. Setting the channels is done the same way in the 2000/XL as it is in the 3k.

:D DO IT! The XL is cool, but it's not the coolest thing since sliced bread like the MPC3K w/OS 3.50 is.

Question to those who have used the mpc and asr with midi:

When I had a ASR10 Keyboard and Mpc 2000xl 3 years ago, I setup how it was described above, however I wasnt happy because i always had to hit the pads harder in fact hitting wouldnt trigger the asr10's sounds, i had to like press down ( bad midi cable ? ) it wasnt like it was when the sounds were inside the mpc - any reason for this?

i guess its because on the asr you have to hold down the keys to play the sample, like note off setting in the mpc, so it works the same via midi.. you have to "play" the pads, not just tap them like when the sounds are in the mpc. theres some way to change this in the asr, but i usually sample my drums with the mpc and the play my samples on the keys of the asr.. so i havent bothered with it. :)

Why is the new 0/S worth the 350.00? whats the one feature that makes it worth it?

that is 100% wackness - now i rmemeber why i hated midi - however this wasnt the case with mpc 2000xl hooked to a sound module -whats the true scoop here.
