This is probably an easy one, but I can't seem to find it... When in EDIT SOUND I have a e.g. 4 second drum break with a kick, snare and hat and I want to extract each and every one of those parts into a new sound. Is that the copy "zone to temp"-thing? Or how does it work? Don't wanna copy the original sound 3 times first...

Just got the machine, plz help me out boys!

Then you need to bump the turntable and sample it like 4x's and then find the part you want to chop and then do Copy Temp to Zone and then do Insert Temp to Zone or whatever so then the sound that you want chopped will replace the sound from when you bumped the turntable. I don't know if that was easy to understand?

hmmmmm, not sure that I understood....

does that really make the 4 parts of the sound into 4 separate SND files?

go to P/S and hit sample new sound.then in the length field put it to .1 seconds. then set ur needle on your t.t. at the very begining of the record.then hit record on the mpc.it will say waiting for audio signal or something like that.then just tap the turntable really gently one time and it will record .1 seconds worth of that bump sound.now that u did that, keep it and name it chop_1.then go to P/S again and hit copy.copy that bump sound as many times as u want to have that many chops in your song.just rename each time you copy.like chop_2,chop_3....etc.then go back to P/S and go to edit sound, scroll at the top to the sound you want to chop up.set your zones to the first place you want your first chop to start and finish.then go down to copy zone temp.and it will do it.then go back up to the top of your screen in the same screen and scroll to your chop_1 sound, now go back down to were you did copy zone temp.and move it to insert zone.this will replace your sound from the bump to your chopped part you selected the zones from the original sample.then after its inserted go to the left side of the edit screen and set the paramiters of the start and finish points of the entire chopped section.thats it.do that to each chop you want.to assign it to a pad just go to P/S-assign to pad.hit the pad you want it to be on.it will say sound-off.just go hear and scroll till you find the chop that you want to put here and there you go.

IDK how it is on the 3000, but on my 60 Im just able to set the threshold to 0 and I don't have to bump anything.

cool, i will definetly look into that... but hey, isn't it easyer to just copy the original 4 second sound and take out the separate parts? at least if you have 188 seconds of RAM....

btw, anyone using the mansell labs OS? saw that they had a proper extract function.

Lots of people on this forum have Vailixi 3.50. Most people will just say shut up and buy it cuz it's that awesome!! The COPY ZONE > SND function is liberating for 3k users, and what's more it can be done in real time :D

read the bible thread stickied at the top of this forum. user elmacaco posted a straightforward tutorial on this topic within the first couple pages.

it really is easy once you do it a few times. just remember to:

1) stay in the EDIT > SOUNDS menu whilst copying to temp and then assigning to pads (or else your temp will be lost if you switch menus)
2) be sure to set the start and end points to .1 before inserting temp to SOFT END
3) set new SOFT END to the finish, then delete before SOFT START (to get rid of the .1 sec of 'silent' sample memory)
