I got a 1k to use on the road so Im trying to copy all my 3k seqs to the 1k so far so good, after long hours of rebuilding the programs I was able to record the bulk of each trk and rebuild the songs, but when it comes to 16 levels my 1k just reads the midi triggor but won't record the 3g performance done in 16levels, is that normal? or does it have something to do with assinging midi note numbers (something Ive avoided on my 3k for the last 10 years)

not for nothin: hearing my 3k tracks on the 1k is rough man, im gonna have to work a lot of magic with all those extra effects to get some thing close to the heat of my 3. but My Back is ready for the switch Im and sick of sweating my zip drive on the road. Glad to have both

Yea in my experience, only Params:VELOCITY and not NOTE VAR(TUNING e.t.c.) when set to 16 levels can be understood as MIDI data.

It seems that unless you have one sound spread across 16 pads, pitched accordingly, then you won't re-create that effect.

I went through this w/my 2500. As you know, you can't import 3k seq. files into the 1k, and if you save ur sequences as smf, then you won't hear the 16 levels. If you put a sound on pad A01, and set it to 16 levels, hitting any pad in any pad bank will give you note A01.
Maybe the 2000/XL can read MPC3k seq. files ???

yeah man, thanks for the response. ive tried everything and finally resorted to replaying the 16level stuff
which is a lot. If you (or anybody) hears of something let me know cuz im looking at a week of rebuilding old tracks so I dont have to carry 2 machines on the road and no matter how weak the 1000 pushes compared my 3000 Im still not resorting to a laptop on stage...matter of priciple
