Ive been messing with the Mitsumi D359T3 and TEAC 235HF

Yea so like everyone else's MPC 60II (with 3.1 OS) my floppy doesnt read disks anymore... so i recently got a hold of the Mitsumi D359T3 and TEAC 235HF... All my attempts with the Mitsumi got me no where... It has 10 pins for jumpers, and i tried the following configuration that a fellow board member gave me:

but no go, i tried both ways with the ribbon cable, and nothing made the light drive light turn on..

As for the TEAC 235HF (jumperless) the first way i put in the ribbon cable the drive light stayed on the whole time and wouldnt turn off, and i read on previous posts, if that was the case, the ribbon cable is upside down.. so i figured im making progress since it made the light turn on at least.. so i flipped the cable, turned it on, but nothing... no light at bootup, and when trying to format or read disk, it still says no disk in drive, and no light comes on like its trying to access it.... so what is this amiga drive everyone is talkin about??

or am i knida on the right track since with this drive the light turned on? but i dont know what else to try, rather than making sure the cables arent twisted which they arent...

and the drive that was in there when i bought (about a month ago) is a Mitsubishi MF353C .. which did work i made one beat on it.. went to go a couple days latur to load it in , and wouldn't read, wont format new disks, read any disks.......so i figured the drive was on its way out or something already..

I have the same problem, only thing is that it's not the floppy drive that's busted, it's an electronics problem.

First I tried the TEAC from my XL (8549 or something). Nada
Then I tried an 'amiga' drive which is just regular drive with jumpers jumpered to work with the Amiga (I think this was a sony). Nada
Desperate, I ordered the drive from VST. Nada.

A Teac235HF drive could work BUT you need one with jumpers.

On of the important things for Akai gear is to jumper your floppy to DS-0. Usually floppy drives are jumpered to DS-1.

You're correct about the light and ribbon cable being reversed.

I might have bookmarked some stuff about floppy drives on my home PC. I'll check when I get home tonight.

hmm yea. i just have the feeling its gonna sit until i win the lottery and go scsi....

Yeah man, I feel you, BELIEVE me! I've spent months jumpering floppy drives here. I'm about to go to a friend of mine to get it checked out. If it's a stupid problem like busted floppy drive controller, I'll fix it. Otherwise I'm just gonna go SCSI.

If I know what the problem is I'll report back.

If you know anybody with an mpc60 with a working floppy drive I'd try to swap those to see if that works.
