midi hook up

im having some trouble figuring out how to hook my keyboard up to the 3k so i can use the sounds it has to record into the mpc...i have a Korg Triton Extreme 88 key and i want to use it in record mode with the mpc.i need some help. i have so many things on the mpc and triton. it's really starting to piss me off

What do u mean exactly by "record into" the MP? I used the first triton, and the trinity before that with the 3K, and it was killer. There are many ways to freak it.

well i just cant get it to recieve sound from the triton into the mpc. when i lay my drums down and my hi hats and all that its all good.but when i try to ad in the piano sounds and strings and stuff like that i hear nothing.i have messed with the midi ins,and outs. i have looked over the manual a hundred times.i have made all midi channels active.i set the sequencer to midi and not drums.i just cant figure it out.i just need a step by step on all the connections and all the settings on the options.

maybe a really stupid question, but do you know the difference between audio and midi?

how do you exactly connected your setup? i would do it like this:

KORG midi out -> midi in MPC
MPC midi out -> midi in KORG

KORG audio out -> mixer or audiointerface
MPC audio out -> mixer or audio interface

This means that if you play on your korg the MPC can record the midi. If you play your sequence again the MPC tels your KORG which tones it should play.

You can't play midi on your MPC and sample at the same time.

If you want to "sample" your mpc beats and your trinitron at the same time you need a computer with a audio interface or a multitracker.

ok...all i have connected from triton to the mpc is 1 midi cable from the midi out of the korg to the midi in on the 3k....so ur saying alond with that i also need to run a midi cable from the midi out of the 3k to the midi in of the korg? 2 midi cables total at the same time? then what.how do i set up the mpc on all the options?

not tying to be a d!ck but really use gogle or search here. its a pain to type all this out and its (really) likley out there for you to find.

midi doesnt send audio. its just on or off signal (basically) for whatever parameter/sound your have it assigned to control. just thought id put that out there. peace.

Yeah anything less than 2 MIDI cables is unacceptable for your situation. Once you got those going, the 'set up' is the easy part. The worst problem you'll face is either a bad cable, or something careless like going from in to in, or out to out(we all do that at least once)

You don't really need another MIDI cable if all you're trying to do is hear the sounds! Sure you'll need it in the lond run but if you just want to hear the sounds then you need to plug an audio cable out of your triton into your mixer that feeds your monitoring system. Hope this clears it up...
