My S3000 is in the mail so i've been looking into this. I'm using Mac OS9 & was looking into a MIDI interface software called MESA(might be windows only, but I remember there was one for Mac also), and I thought it did support waveform editing.
SCSI would be faster, but I couldn't find anything like that.
The S3200xl can read 3k snd. files.

I chop my samples on a S3000xl, because of the graphic editor. Save to Disk and then I load them into my MPC 3000. It works like a charm.

Co-sign.

MPC3000 can read disks formatted by the S1000/S3000 series samplers.

Have done it like this for years.
