I dont know if anyone read my post in the MPC is going crazy thread (my 3000 went bannanas and the local Akai Service Center basically told me to **** off), but this is a little follow up and a re-assurance to 60/3000 users that they havent abandoned us.

heres a email i received today:

Your email was brought to my attention by Akai regarding the poor service atMcAlister Electronics in Sunnyvale, CA. Has the problem with your MPC-3000been resolved?, If you like, you can ship the unit to us for factoryservice - we will expedite the repairs for you since your having these problems with one of our service centers. I will also make a call the
McAlister to find out what the problem is. Sorry for the inconvenience.

That's nice man,
Mine is one of the MPC's with issues, VST sounds nice...
My 60 is at Rogue, hopefully it all works out, I'll let you know..
Easy

Rogue does good service. but VST is the shit. So damn helpful and nice to boot.

PS

I just copped 3 original MPC sound library disks and 3 mpc2000 sound library disks. The sounds are pretty good, very realistic.

I had some minor issues with my 60 after installing 3.1! I actually spoke to Roger Linn (real humble guy) and he recommended VST (Dave K. Segimoto)! Nice to see a company support products that are almost 15 years old.

Does this mean that ROGER LINN has failed to mention that most MPC-60's won't work properly after the upgrade or does this failure only apply to some machines with bad disk drives? I'm confused. I hope the OS is returnable because I'm not about to ship out my MPC-60 for repair after I just waited 2 weeks to receive it from a recent ebay auction. What a gastly experience that was.

=Thanks guys. Peace-

Drumatic,

You should be straight if your using the original drive! I think the promblem is related to some of the generic replacement drives?

VST was definitely tight and Dave is very easy to work with and very helpful. My stuff came back before I even expected it to.

Peace.

yea, i was told by someone that a replacement floppy drive for the mpc60 bought from ROUTE 66 will not work after upgrading to the 3.1OS!!! my floppy quit working as soon as i upgraded! as soon as the person heard this, they assumed my drive was from ROUTE 66... im not sure if it is in fact a ROUTE 66 drive or not since i bought the mpc used...

I was on the yahoo MPC 60 user forum one time and the guy who worked at Route 66 said something about HD drives not working with the 3.1 OS. Just DD diskettes. It worked, just not with HD disks. So ifyou have the original drive, your good to go.

ive only tried DD disks in this machine.. havent even tried HD disks in it since i dont think any mpc60 can read HD floppy disks! DD disks dont work in my drive(neither do the disks that came with the 3.1 OS, which i would assume are DD disks also) ,but they did before the OS upgrade, so i assume that it came from ROUTE 66... i think it was VST that quoted me a price of $135 for a new DD floppy disk drive installed!

I've only used HD disk in my 60 w/ original OS. My 2000XL will not read the 60 HD disk unless I cover the hole on the right hand side. Otherwise I have had no problems.

Don't do it!! Use DD Only!!!!!
