Installing A New OS

OKay, This may be a very simple question and answer, I thought it would be fairly simple anyway, but.....I downloaded the 3.12 & 3.16 OSs and got'em over to a computer to put them on a 3.5 Diskette, but, My3000 isn't allowing Me to install it, It just says something like unable, select a different file.
Any advice?

Excuses.....
I got the 3.16 OS to work.
So, There's no way of having it be the permanent OS rather than having to load it with the Disk everytime I turn it back on?

The reason I needed to upgrade My OS is that I've been trying to transfer My.WAV drums to .SND with MpcPgmMaker. When I try loading them in My 3000 says that what I'm trying to load is from a later OS and I need to UpGrade?
Got any advice?

Quite clearly stated in the PDF that was supplied along with said 3.16 download.

If you want it permanent then it has to be in ROM.

3.16 was obsoleted by 3.50 some time ago.
