How do you sample in mono?

Hey guys. I figured the MPC60 users would know this best. I have a Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. There are no mono outputs, and thus, I dunno how to connect that into the mono input of the MPC60. Anyone got any suggestions to what I have now, or should I just get a 1642-VLZ mixer, which has a mono output? Thanks.

You need to just plug your shit in to the mixer and your good. You need to set the MPC to sample in Mono so where it says Stereo change it to Mono L or Mono R.

Oh, well, I don't have a MPC60, I have an E-mu SP-12. I didn't know the MPC had that option. You know about the SP-12?

SP1200 is Mono. You can convert your tracks in your DAW to Stereo if you want to but Mono is better you have more control over your sounds.

I think the 60 has only Mono inputs? How can you set it from Stereo to Mono L/R then?

What you probably want to do is mix left and right channel into one before sampling it. If you take only one channel, you might loose parts of the recording. You could for example plug the left channel of your source (turntable...) into a Left input of one channel of your mixer, and the right channel of your source into a Left input of another channel. Then sample from the Left output of your mixer. Be careful with the levels though.

Otherwise you have to sample Left and Right channel separately and pan both samples within the sampler afterwards.

My bad yes on the 60 you would have to sample one side and then create a Stereo sound.

if u want record mono samples (mixed stereo L+R)

plug your mpc60 input in aux send from mixer (aux out).
then you can control a level from mixer, just turn the send knob...

you can always record separately L or R, from mono channels of your mixer
sending separately L or R same way like above
what's a difference? -
old rec. from 60' and 70' quite often L and R are separate, so you can sample what you need( L channel drums, R bass, etc)

I just used a Y cable with the 60 2 into 1, or from my DAW selected a single side to play (L or R)
