Question about 3000 filters...

The 3000 only has low pass filters right? What if theres a sample that U want to add your own bassline to? theres no way to filter out the bass in the sample with a high pass filter so how would u do this?

You can't. If you increase the resonance on the filter at higher frequencies you will effectively decrease the bass portion of the sound (with respect to the Q on the high end) but that's not quite a strong HP filter.

eq / filter prior to, think outside the box.....literally.

so how would u do it? just need to EQ the sample before you record it?

Also chopping on the mpc is hard right? Would it be better ot just chop and EQ on the computer and then just load it into the 3000 by using the MPC editor program which allows the 3000 to read wav files right?

new to the mpc3k but heavy chopping is a royal pain on it. the buttons werent made for chopping samples i feel, but for chopping simple drums. its a easy interface but for chopping mad samples on a daily basis, another story to me. on my asr its a breeze cause of the slider...however i love the 3k so it is what it is. I just rock all non drum samples on my asr10.

if you have a mixer running to your turntable, just take the low end off the sample with the EQ settings or with the bass knob, whichever you have
but don't take off too much or you may lose some the harmonics of the sample

Different approaches really. MPC editor converts WAV to SND-the 3K can't read WAV.
Regarding ASR-10, I have both. I can chop blazing fast on either. Aside from the chop w/o losing memory feature on the ASR-10, I believe that the 3K chopping is more eloquent. With VaiIixi 3.50 you can COPY ZONE-SND which on top of the real-time editing(not availiable on any ASR OS) beats the pants off the ASR'S chopping.
Also, I would recomend OS 2.61 for any ASR user, for speed really.
