when i power up my Mpc 60I, I am getting a really highpitch buzz/ringing noise like a tv(not flatscreen).

It's pretty darn loud to me cause i have good fresh listening ears and a silent work enviroment.

I opened it up (bothering me so bad) to see where the noise was coming from and concluded it is coming from the power generators on the right of the 60. It is bouncing around in there like a raquet ball and leaking out every crack and crevice of my mpc. If I put my ear up to any of the 4 corners its really loud(I guess from the sound bouncing.)

One of my friends said it could be a bad coil in the wiring or something...

Have any of you guys heard of this or had experience with it yourself...?
Cause my 60 is sweet without hardly a scratch on it and this noise almost ruins the use of it.

I wish i would have heard it when i bought it but his shop had a lot going on and i wasnt listening for a high pitch buzz/nor could i hear it.
I was just checking buttons ,floppy , screen and whatever i could.

I am hoping a technician can save my 60.

anyone?

hey maine,

is it coming from the top righthand side? or from the little board just behind the floppy drive?

thanks for asking, and yes
its coming from the piece right behind the floppy drive and the peice up a little further closer to the metal heat sink grill vent.

The ring is awful... From now on I will always check this out when i buy.
I hate constant high frequency buzzes badly.

that's the invertor for the EL backlight.
disconnect the power to it and check if it still happens.

You'll have no backlight but you can simply use a small lamp.

hey thanks for that info... my display light is already dim and I use a lamp with it... but I was looking forward to replacing it one day with a nice new bright display... Do you think the invertor you mentioned is toast?

Do you think it's the invertor or just a wire or two that is bad and not the whole thing?

thanks the for the already valuable info :)

Oh yeah and also ...do you know what color the power cable plug will be so I dont pull out the wrong one?

check pic below

when you remove it, make a note of which way the cable is on, it does have clips and it would be difficult to put it on backwards but just to make sure..
