HELP plugged a 120v MPC 3000 into 240v...

having not used it in a year i forgot it was 120...

now i'm running it thru the 240v - 120v inverter I should have used in the first place and its not switching on (suprise surprise....)

can it be repaired? does it have an internal fuse of some kind? is it a repair i can do or do i have to take it to a shop?

i feel like such a moron....searched high low for the right scsi cable so i could get it working wiht the zip drives that came with it, finally got everything i need then I F&^K IT UP!!!!!!

if you are lucky you might of just blown the fuses.

just open it up and have a look.

Ouch...

It's fused for safety.

With any luck. No damage done if correctly fused in the first instance.

PRIMARY MAINS INPUT FILTER / PROTECTOR BOARD - L4012B507C resides on the primary mains side of the power transformer. ( It is the lower power supply board )

It is fuse protected.

The fuse rating is critical.

The fuse location is marked on the board as "F1".

Depending on the back panel mains power territory designation stickers.

[C][A] - 1A 125V

[J] = 1A 250V

[E][V][B][S] - T1A 250V

Change the fuse in accordance with these ratings above and you should be OK.

In your case ...... Just because you're in a 240V environment, DO NOT put a 250V fuse in.

Reason being is that "next time" you make this mistake, more than the fuse will blow.

If the unit needs a 125V fuse, then use one.

after reading more posts it seems i need a 120v 800ma fuse

have also had some helpful aim chats with people so by tomoro i should be back on track!!

do you know if the fuses are the default size? or some custom size? i;ve found a few places in england that stock 120v 800ma fuses, just wondering if they'll fit

Where are you getting the 120v 800ma value from ?

Stock sized fuses.

Values as I posted.

The values I posted above are factory values for the intended mains territory designations.

120V 800ma would be under-rated. Might be on the edge of blowing.

this actually happened to me about a year ago...
they fixed and all but there's a little residue static signal when in play mode....

thanks for everyones help. I never expected to recieve help and advice over AIM just a few hours after posting my message. What a warm and welcoming bunch MPC users are!! props to this forum!!!

the back panel country code appears to be covered by the sticker which says '110 VOLTS ONLY' in capital leters *sheepish emoticon*

thanks to Karl for the photos he emailed me... I opened the machine and checked fuse on the lower power board as suggested by Rohan...and thankfully it has blown!!

the fuse itself reads '250v 800ma' which means its even more sensitive than the 1A fuse we thought would be in there...so hopefully by tomoro evening I will have a new fuse in her and she will be working happily...fingaz crossed

Make sure you let us know if you get her back up and running, K....

Put a 1 amp / 250v fuse in her and SHE WORKS!!!!!!!!!

now i just have to replace the backlight

and figure out how to use her!! (being an ableton bod...)
