Display MPC60

Hi,

i have a problem with the display of my mpc60.
every time i activate the mpc the only things i can recognize on the display are black bars and stripes. what can i do?

please help me out

You need a new foil for your backlight. Do a search there are plenty of topics posted about this with links.

I dont know, New Foil's are only if you can still read all the characters but the display is DULL or DIM.........in your case all you see is lines and black bars, so all a new foil will do is display these line and bars BRIGHTER!!! ---

Yeah if it doesn't light up at all then yeah he probably does need a new screen.

Maybe its a contrast problem. Sounds like a display you'd see when you have the contrast turned all the way up. Might be a bad pot??? - would be much cheaper than a new lcd.

Not at all Vstservice.com or MPCstuff.com

Why don't you try to post a picture of the screen, before everybody keeps on speculating about what it could be.

Have you checked the ribbon cable inside your MPC? These often goes a bit wrong causing all sorts of mayhem. Check it's plugged in properly...

@derekam: what is a bad pot?

a bad potentiometer - in this case, the knob that controls the amount of contrast. If its bad, than perhaps thats the screen looks that way - only a guess though, but, as _Stilo_ mentioned, maybe you should post some pics.

Umm....from what I can see from those blurry pics, I would say the display is wrecked. If you're lucky, it's just a loose connector inside.

I posted this in the 60 bible awhile ago:

If all or part of your display is blank, try tightening the metal tabs that hold the plastic cover onto the LCD screen.
When changing the foil in my 60, I made the mistake of taking the plastic cover that goes over the LCD screen off. When I reassembled it, vertical lines were missing from the middle of the display. Turns out, to display correctly, the LCD needs a certain amount of pressure on it. I tightened those tabs down a little bit, and...problem solved.
Just something to try (especially if you've been messing around in there changing the backlight).

Might be the problem, although the lines on my display looked different than what's in those pics. You can try tightening tose metal tabs up though, just be careful.
