card reader wanted

Hi, does anyone know where to buy (or want to sell) a 3000 compatible ext card reader?

Are you a registered user of Vailixi 3.50?

If yes then http://www.scsiforsamplers.com has MCDISK CF readers for sale. Many 3K users on this forum are using them.

Type SCSI FOR SAMPLERS into google, and it's the second link that comes up.

Is there a certain way you have to format or partition the cf cards?

No.

If you are a MAC user, and you want to be able to see all the partitions on the MAC, make sure you put the CF card in the MAC immediately after formatting it with Hybrid Partitions.

I like to have 24 partitions.

Why do you immediately have to put the CF card in the MAC I didn't have to do that and mine works fine?

Vailixi Hybrid Partitions build on and enhance the MPC3000 FAT-12 file system.

Vailixi's Hybrid-Partition/FAT-12 format is robust on various operating systems. ( it doesn't get damaged on
DOS/UNIX/LINUX/WINDOWS/NEXT/MACOS ( prior to OSX ) environments )

OSX versions up to the most recent one "damage" FAT/FAT-12 media devices.

In fact, OSX damages FAT formatted devices period in certain circumstances. ( camera communities are well versed with this experience )

The circumstances being based largely around:

"When files to be accessed are root directory stored; and when the MAC didn't get a chance to access said device first".

In simple; the MAC needs to access a fresh formatted device first, particularly if it is a FAT type.

Before any files gets saved to the storage device !!!

This is so OSX it will lay down "FINDER TURDS" without damaging pre-existing files, FAT and Directory Entries on the storage device.

The routine goes like this:

1: Format the ZIP/CF using the Vailixi 3.50 HYBRID PARTITION option.
2: Don't save files on to the fresh formatted ZIP/CF from the MPC3000
at this point.
3: Remove the ZIP/CF disk from the MPC3000 connected ZIP/CF drive.
4: Insert the ZIP/CF disk in the MAC connected ZIP/CF drive.
5: Let the MAC "do it's thing". ( open each partition within the MAC
finder )
6: Once the MAC has correctly logged in all the partitions and layed down "FINDER TURDS", eject the ZIP/CF disk from the MAC.
7: Insert the ZIP/CF disk back into the MPC3000 connected ZIP/CF drive.
8: The ZIP/CF can now be moved between the MPC3000 and MAC without issues of "FINDER TURD" based corruption.

The latest version of OSX is supposed to fix this issue by not "MARKING" FAT formatted storage media.

I have not been able to confirm this yet so the above routine should be adhered to in an effort to minimize potential for corruption.

Yup but I use a 128mb to transfer things and save to 1gb card.

What's there not to understand am I missing something?

I just meant it is not necessary to have a designated CF card for transferring files.

Oh I understand yeah I just use it instead just in case I do something stupid lol!

Will the MCDISK CF Card reader work with the MPC 60? It says that it is compatible on the site anyone tried it yet?
