Problem Valixi OS 3.50 & MAC OSX 10.3.8

I am having weird problem
I made a beat on the 3000 and saved it to my CF card which was Hybrid Partitioned and I had done the whole format it and put in the MAC immediately and then put back in the 3000 and all that just like Rohan had said on another post. So then backed it up into a folder that I had made on my MAC running OSX 10.3.8. So then the other day I went to load it back to my CF card and load into the 3000 and the All_PGM.APS & Sound1 files both kicked the same error code when I hit load it said "This file contains invalid data Error code [F500]" and the Sound1 which was my main sample says it is 0 KB's for some reason so I don't know if the MAC messed with my Sound1 and erased the data of the file or what? Any help would be appreciated.

So you...

1. Formatted a CF card (Hybrid partitions)

2. Inserted it into the MAC

2. Sampled/Imported .SND'S into 3K

4. Saved to CF card

5. Backed up to MAC

6. Erased/Re-Formatted CF card

...and after doing so was met with the error message?

Did you try testing the non-functioning .SND file in MPCpgmamker?

How exactly did you do the initial backup to the MAC?

Step 6 is where I **** up damn it. Now it makes sense to me I didn't realize that I had to reformat the card everytime cool. But still doesn't explain why my Main sample all of a sudden was 0kb's that's so weird.

I don't believe it's absolutely necessary to re-format every time, I was just clarifying your original post.

Can you confirm that your main sample was successfully backed up?

Yeah positive. But do you think if there was already a Sound1 on my MAC that was in another file could of accidentally caused a naming issue and that would of have made the sound become 0kb's?

I took the files off the CF Card and put them into a Folder on my MAC.

I've had similar things happen.

If your main sample works in the MAC, you could always make a new folder.

The corrupted ALL_PGM.APS file seems like a lost cause though.

Well the reason the ALL_PGM.APS file wouldn't load was because the main sample which was named Sound1 was 0kb's so there was a file but it had no data in it which is really weird.
I am gonna try it again tonight and see what happens if it's the same scenario or not.

It is the "put it in the MAC immediately" process which can be messed up without even realizing.

Yep ... The MAC has futzed the disk...

This is a sure fire pointer to a process with the MAC being performed incorrectly.

The reason the MAC messed with the disk data is that step 5 was "possibly" not followed correctly.

5: Let the MAC "do it's thing". ( open each partition within the MAC
finder )

This means.

Don't just put the freshly formatted HYBRID-PARTITION CF into the MAC connected drive and then remove it.

Once the CF has been placed into the MAC connected drive, OPEN EACH PARTITION.

This will allow the MAC to "do it's thing" to your freshly formatted HYBRID-PARTITION disk.

Don't save any files to the disk at this stage.

At that point you can eject the CF from the MAC ( use the media eject functions ) and then use it between your MPC and MAC.

So ...

The steps again.

1: Format the ZIP/CF using the Vailixi 3.50 HYBRID PARTITION option.

2: Don't save files on to the fresh formatted ZIP/CF from the MPC3000
at this point.

3: Remove the ZIP/CF disk from the MPC3000 connected ZIP/CF drive.

4: Insert the ZIP/CF disk in the MAC connected ZIP/CF drive.

5: Open each partition on the MAC and let the MAC "do it's thing".

6: Once the MAC has correctly logged in all the partitions and laid down "FINDER TURDS", eject the ZIP/CF disk from the MAC.

7: Insert the ZIP/CF disk back into the MPC3000 connected ZIP/CF drive.

8: The ZIP/CF can now be moved between the MPC3000 and MAC without issues of "FINDER TURD" based corruption.

The latest version of OSX is supposed to fix this issue by not "MARKING" FAT formatted storage media. ( verified by another list member )

Maybe consider updating to a newer OSX version ?

I did everything you said except now I haven't tried to save a beat to it yet and then back it up to my MAC so I will try here soon and see if I still get the same problem.
