Alright, I just got a 3K (3.11 OS) and now all it wants to do is hang when I try to load a sample from the Zip drive. The sample is 1023K and it's coming from an Iomega 250 Zip drive. It's been formatted through the MP and I had no problems saving to it. At first I was thinking that older technology = longer load times, but 5+ min!? I'd appreciate any help on this.

I don't know what may be the problem with your's.

I have had a lot of problems when I used Zip.

I did not have a lot of problems with the floppydrive, but it's a bit slow by nature.

Have you tried other storage options than Zips? Is the Zip drive built in or external?

Card Readers are pretty fast and has not too many problems like Zips I think.

So then you have a built in floppy?

Have you tried using the floppy-drive and see if that is faster? But with floppies a sample can't be longer than 8 secs stereo 16 secs mono to fit one disc.

Have you concidered getting a cardreader? Or the Mansell-Labs O.S.? It's a good investment if you use your 3000 a lot, but it costs money, and the 3000 costs alot alone already, so it's a question of money vs. needs.

Yeah, it's got the standard internal 3.5 floppy drive and it loads fine. I did buy a card reader for the 2K XL, but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I wonder if it'll work for the
3K.... Not sure if it would work for the 3.11 OS though, but I guess I'll have to find a sticky somewhere on this.

Thanks for the suggestions Deck and everyone who even took the time out to click on this thread.
